Description: Artists work on individual projects with the guidance of instructor and interaction with the group. Group critiques are held at the end of the session. Studios are for intermediate and advanced artists working in all 2D drawing and painting mediums. Small Class size. Please pre-register.

Painting Fundamentals: Color Mixing

Description: This is a good class for beginners and artists needing a refresher and up to date information. Strongly recommended for all painters in the River's Edge Studio program. Learn the modern pigments you need for an effective color palette. Make a color wheel and practice color mixing. All materials included (acrylics) or bring your own oils or pastels. Description:Color can make your paintings have meaning and power. Learn some basic color theory and how to make the most of color combination to give your paintings meaning and mood. Description: Artists need balance in their work and the key is creating beautiful neutral colors and using them effectively. Learn how to mix an variety of neutral hues using a 3 color system. Special Topics in Design

Description: Participants will draw and paint from imagination and simple still life focusing on a special design topic each session. For all levels of experience. Materials (drawing and acrylics) included.

Composition Foundation

Description: Practice methods of developing compositions while considering the placement of objects within the picture plane, size, overlapping, horizon line and value. Learn strategies for starting a painting. For all levels of experience. All materials included.

Abstract Painting

Description: Explore abstract art historically and hands on. Intuitive painting methods, formal design concepts and strategies for developing abstract art will be explored. Most materials included. An optional material list will be provided. For all levels of experience.

Painting the Landscape

Date/Time: May 19,20,21,22 - 10:00 - 3:00

Tuition: $325

Description: Paint on location outdoors in the Asheville area while learning techniques of Impressionism. The focus of this workshop is on preparing for outdoor painting, composition, color and painting visual impressions of light and reflections. Create small studies in oils, acrylics or pastels. This class is for students with some painting experience. A material list will be provided to participants prior to the class when you register
