Issues with Composition
2010 art classes Asheville

Friday, August 13th, 9:30 – 3:00
Tuition $75, bring your paintings and materials.

“Even when there is an overall plan, an artist may still get a better idea of his or her intention as the process unfolds.” Even with meticulous planning, decision making continues as long as you work on a painting. We will work toward developing new plans with composition and color choices as you complete paintings. Be prepared to make changes in method and direction in this class. We will begin the class with a focused study of what makes a successful composition, by looking at paintings and engaging in group discussion. Then we will analyze your ideas for new works, or evaluate your works in progress, and focus on new strategies for successful completion, from editing to harmonious color combinations. Bring your notebook, ideas and canvases, or two or three pieces of your artwork that are in need of some improvement.
